School Talk –

“Marita Phillips recently visited our year 5 and 6 children to talk about her novel called ‘The Dream Dealer’. Marita began by speaking about her inspiration for writing the book and the key structure to an effective story. Following this Marita read short extracts from the novel and discussed with the children the sensitive PSHE issues that develop. The children hung on every word! Marita has a delightful way of speaking. She is gentle and sensitive and completely engaging. This resulted in the children asking some really thoughtful questions. Where she questioned them, she was able to probe skilfully their opinions and responses in a very encouraging and respectful manner. Many children chose to buy the novel and keep asking if Marita has written the next book yet!” Sarah Woolman, Literacy Co-ordinator, St. Anne’s
